The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations embracing the format.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the GCA, confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. While the launch is planned, the association is still working on key details. This includes identifying a suitable window in the cricket calendar and finalizing the number of teams that will participate.
These domestic T20 leagues are increasingly important for IPL franchises. They serve as vital scouting grounds, offering local talent a platform to shine and potentially secure a spot in the prestigious league. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra have already proven successful in this regard. Many of these tournaments typically take place in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
