X, formerly known as Twitter, has taken action against over 500,000 accounts in India for violating its platform policies. The bans occurred between January 26th and February 25th, according to a Reuters report.
Elon Musk's X platform banned over 5 lakh Indian accounts for violating policies, including promoting terrorism and child sexual exploitation. Users should avoid violating policies to prevent account suspension.
The social media giant banned a staggering 506,173 accounts for offenses related to child sexual exploitation and non-consensual nudity. Additionally, X suspended 1,982 accounts for promoting terrorism.
In total, 508,155 accounts were banned during the specified period. X also received approximately 14,421 complaints from Indian users through its grievance redressal mechanisms and addressed around 41 requests concerning account suspensions.
X Corp. stated, "We overturned 1 of these account suspensions after reviewing the specifics of the situation. The remaining reported accounts remain suspended." The company also reported receiving 71 requests related to general questions about accounts during the reporting period.
This recent wave of account bans is not an isolated event. Between December 26th and January 25th, X banned approximately 231,215 accounts in India. During that same timeframe, 1,945 accounts were removed for promoting terrorism.
To prevent your X account from being suspended, adhere to the platform's policies. Avoid posting content related to child sexual exploitation and non-consensual nudity, and refrain from promoting terrorism or engaging in other prohibited activities.
