Archer's Back: England's Bowling Attack Reinforced for Second India Test

Thursday - 26/06/2025 09:35
A 30-year-old pacer is all set to make a sensational return to England's Test squad after more than four years, boosting their pace attack for the second Test against India. His inclusion aims to strengthen England's lead in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series, following their impressive win in the first Test at Headingley.

England's bowling attack has received a significant boost with the inclusion of Jofra Archer in the squad for the second Test against India. This marks a remarkable return for the express pace bowler, who last played a Test match in February 2021.

Archer's return strengthens England's squad as they aim to extend their 1-0 lead in the five-match series. The team secured a memorable five-wicket victory in the first Test.

Archer's last appearance for England was in March during the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan, where he played a one-day international against South Africa. Recently, he participated in his first first-class game in four years for Sussex against Durham. Despite taking only one wicket, his rhythm and fitness encouraged the selectors.

With 42 wickets from 13 Tests at an average of 31, Archer's record showcases his potential impact. His pace, bounce, and ability to bowl hostile spells will provide England with an advantage, especially at Edgbaston, where seamers often find success.

His inclusion is also timely, given concerns about the workload and fitness of other fast bowlers. Gus Atkinson is still recovering, while Josh Tongue and Brydon Carse are being closely monitored.

The second Test begins on July 2 at Edgbaston.
