Doordarshan, the national broadcaster, brings a significant opportunity for devotees of Lord Ram. The daily morning prayers dedicated to the Ram Lalla idol at the revered Ram Temple in Ayodhya will now be telecast live.
This announcement was made via a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. According to the announcement, the morning aarti will be broadcast live on DD National every day starting at 6:30 am.
The decision to telecast the morning aarti live stems from a desire to connect devotees with Lord Ram, especially in light of the temple's recent inauguration. With the grand opening having taken place less than two months ago, many devotees are unable to visit the temple in person. The Aarti will also be streamed simultaneously on DD’s YouTube channel.
This initiative arose partly because the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust currently lacks the logistical infrastructure for live broadcasts. To facilitate the telecast, Doordarshan will station a small crew of two to three members at the temple to cover the daily rituals.
DD’s announcement to telecast the Aarti live for 30 minutes each morning follows approval from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Initially, DD will broadcast the “Mangala aarti” for a trial period of a few months. Following this, the Ram Temple Trust will evaluate the initiative's progress and decide on future steps.
The Ayodhya Ram Temple observes a schedule of six aartis daily:
The temple trust has issued guidelines for devotees wishing to attend the aartis. Entry to the Mangala Aarti (4:30 AM), Shringar Aarti (6:15 AM), and Shayan Aarti (10 PM) is restricted to pass holders only. However, no entry passes are required for the remaining aartis.
The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has also issued an advisory for devotees visiting the temple for darshan:
"Devotees can enter the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir for Darshan from 6:30 AM to 9:30 PM. The entire process from entry to exit after Darshan at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir is extremely simple and convenient. Typically, devotees can have a smooth Darshan of Prabhu Shri Ram Lalla Sarkar within 60 to 75 minutes."
For convenience and to save time, devotees are advised to leave their mobile phones, footwear, purses, and other personal items outside the Mandir premises. The trust also requests that devotees refrain from bringing flowers, garlands, or Prasad to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir.
