ChatGPT, the popular AI chatbot, recently experienced a global outage, leaving many users unable to access the service. According to Downdetector, a website that tracks outages, numerous users reported issues accessing OpenAI's chatbot.
The reports indicated that approximately 91% of users encountered problems, with 7% specifically facing website access issues and the remaining users struggling to log in to their ChatGPT accounts.
Users turned to X (formerly Twitter) to share their experiences and confirm the widespread disruption.
OpenAI acknowledged the outage through its official status page, citing "increased latency and errors affecting both ChatGPT and APIs."
The good news is that the service has since been restored. According to OpenAI's status page, the latency issue has been resolved, and "performance is now back to normal."
The TOI Tech team independently verified the restoration, confirming that ChatGPT is functioning correctly on both the web and mobile app platforms.
