Released by Seattle Orcas, the all-rounder has re-found his mojo at the Texas Super Kings this season

Shubham Ranjane's presence on the cricket field immediately captures attention. His energetic approach and unwavering self-assurance are evident in every move. Ranjane's dedication is clear whether he's batting, bowling, or fielding.

His impactful time in the Mumbai dressing room left a lasting impression. Even five years later, former teammates remember his contributions. Suryakumar Yadav, India's T20I captain, recently acknowledged Ranjane's impressive 70 off 45 in a Major League Cricket (MLC) innings. Yadav's nostalgic Instagram post emphasized Ranjane's "X factor," hinting at future achievements.

Ranjane told Cricbuzz, "Even if I play gully cricket it is all intense. Whichever game I play, it is all about giving 200%. Whatever the situation, I should be there and get my team to win. I want the ball to come to me. Even when I bowl, I want that breakthrough. It's all about that game changing attitude. Whatever the situation, if you need two sixes, I want to be the one to finish it. Not risking it to leave it for someone else," .

This determination has always been a defining trait. In 2019, Ranjane played a Times Shield game and then trialed for Rajasthan Royals, tasked with chasing 60 runs with Shimron Hetmyer against bowlers like Oshane Thomas and Keemo Paul. Ranjane dominated, scoring 52 of the 60 runs needed, securing the win. This display of spark reminded Suryakumar of Ranjane's unique X-factor.

After being released by the Seattle Orcas before the domestic draft, Ranjane's career took an unexpected turn. However, this setback proved beneficial. The Texas Super Kings (TSK) quickly selected him as their top pick for $80,000, a significant sum for a cricketer in America.

Ranjane stated, "The preparations began quickly after the draft day. I was given a lot of clarity from day one on what my role was going to be. I never once got an impression I'd be a passenger on the squad. I was always made to feel like an integral part of the unit. They gave me confidence and things started falling into place. The coaches were always in touch. The feedback mechanism was in place for every session. It gave me immense confidence".

With strong performances in tournaments like the USPL, Ranjane hopes to join the national team. He aims to fill the need for a batting all-rounder with seam-up abilities for the USA. Even though he's not currently utilized in the MLC, his slower deliveries and powerful hitting could be valuable for the USA in the upcoming T20 World Cup. And, of course, there's that X factor that Suryakumar Yadav admires.
